π£ Call for Volunteers to help @JBRPC clean #JamaicaBay shoreline in Broad Channel this Saturday before winter winds and tides bring major debris! π
#NovemberCleanSweep is an effort by volunteers and students to remove marine debris from our shorelines. Join JBRPC, @JamaicaBaywatch, @JoannAriola32, and @Stacey23AD for a cleanup at Broad Channel American Park on Saturday, Nov 19 at 11am. Link in bio to register!
Kudos to the @JBRPC Education Team for conceiving and facilitating this program with awesome #teachers from the Waterside Studio School in Rockaway on the 10-yr anniversary of #SuperstormSandy. Building #resilience in communities is as important (maybe more) as on shorelines.
In October, we partnered with the fifth graders at Waterside Children's Studio School on a residency program, commemorating the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Read about the project, and the meaning of the student's #resiliency quilt. π
