@Imaginely2 @plainstriumph @DeeGoingsGirl At the end of the day though, the child is learning primarily from the textbooks. The parent is facilitating/guiding that learning. Therefore, the parent doesn't need to be an expert. He/She merely needs to be willing to support/guide/assist their child's learning.

@Imaginely2 @plainstriumph @DeeGoingsGirl There is an incredible array of resources for homeschoolers. If anything, the problem isn't the homecoming family having adequate resources. The problem is figuring out which of the many excellent resources available are best suited for their kids.

@Imaginely2 @plainstriumph @DeeGoingsGirl It does mean solutions to poor outcomes should focus more on maximizing parental involvement in their kid's education (e.g., through school choice initiatives) than on spending more on classroom tech or other boondoggles.

@Imaginely2 @plainstriumph @DeeGoingsGirl That doesn't mean homeschooling can't go bad (e.g., when the parents use homeschool as an excuse to neglect their children) or that traditional schools can't have very good outcomes (e.g., when parents are highly involved in their children's traditional school education).

I said the person who knows & loves the child the most is best able to give the child the best education. I'll also point out that the person the child knows & loves the most is the 1 they're most motivated to please.

Furthermore, across educational systems, outcomes are most closely tied to parental involvement in the child's education, not the level of education of the teacher.

The Celsius scale sucks so bad it has to be reported in fractions of a degree.

It’s only useful for scientific calculations.

@myobfool @AIPandaX That's what I do with all expensive hardware. Large hardware manufacturers are structurally incapable of making good software.

So, when I but a TV, I'm solely concerned about the size & picture (i.e., how the hardware performs). Plug a Chromecast in the back, & I'm good to go.
