🛑 Family Tries to Pull Father Away From ICE in Harrison, NJ 🛑

ICE agents in Harrison, New Jersey had a man pinned against a tree and an SUV this afternoon when his family decided to get involved. Instead of stepping back, they grabbed onto him and pushed into the agents, trying to drag him out of federal custody in the middle of the arrest.

Grabbing an arrestee and shoving into officers isn't a family moment, it's interference. Under 18 U.S.C. § 111, assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer is a federal crime, and every relative who put hands on that group could have gone home in cuffs too.

None of this would play out on a sidewalk if New Jersey worked with ICE. In March, Trenton wrote the Immigrant Trust Directive into state law, barring local police from helping with civil immigration enforcement and banning 287(g) agreements outright. The Hudson County Sheriff followed in February with an order calling ICE detainers mere "civil requests."

The family detained and deported together, stays together.
