Connections matter. Relationships matter. Respect and appreciation to ALL school staff matters. Sweet surprise this morning from one of my custodial staff members.
How we make people feel matters! ❤️
To have the opportunity to lead and serve in the community that academically lead me to where I am today, is something I’ll forever be grateful for. I’m humbled and so incredibly honored to represent Martin County School District as the 2023-2024 Assistant Principal of the Year!
Today I needed to fill my cup. What better way to do that than by visiting classrooms! I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to lead at a school where teachers work so hard to make sure our students have what they need to be successful. 🐊 🪄 ❤️ #PublicSchoolProud#BCEGators
Yesterday and today were busy. But I had an encounter with a student that reminded me that regardless of all the approaching deadlines, he needed me and my students come first. Kindness goes a long way and he reminded me what really was important! For that, I’m thankful. ❤️
I had the privilege of taking 25 of our 5th graders to our Nation’s Capital for a 3 day trip. What an honor it was to watch them learn and experience our country’s history AND some of them even saw snow for the first time! #BCEGators
When we talk about rebounding, it doesn't end after a successful return to #school in August or September. Rebounding is about rethinking our entire school year and accelerating #learning well beyond those first few days and weeks. #edchat

Reaching the “hard to reach” students is not about having the right strategy… it’s about having the right heart. It’s a passion for connecting with kids.
Don't write off students who struggle and label them as lazy or unmotivated.
Instead, be curious about the skills they're missing that we can teach them to help them succeed.
Let's assume the best about kids. Most often they want to succeed but may not have the tools...yet.
None of this should alarm or guilt you:
Ending class early, giving students long breaks during class, not forcing kids to keep their camera on, allowing people to eat during class, giving kids multiple opportunities to turn-in work or re-do tests, spending ample time talking.
Some of the most important work you’ll do today won’t be your lessons, your assessments, or your technology.
The most important work will be your encouragement of others, your connection with your students, and your passion for making a difference.
What you do matters.
When people are excited about their work, people usually notice. It matters.
For example, most students notice when their teachers are passionate about teaching. And it usually affects their attitude towards their learning.
COVID changes some things... but not everything.
