You're not "lazy." You're probably exhausted & also haven't had a lot of support in defining your goals or creating a realistic recovery blueprint. "Lazy" is the kind of thing abusers say to make it not-their-fault-- but this is not about your "character." Think skills & support.
@cenkuygur Most football fans have a moan about decisions they don’t agree with, suck it up and move on.
Americans have to cheat and bring the entire sport into disrepute on the largest stage.
Can you lot go back to not being interested in football so you don’t destroy the world’s game.
"Gratitude" is one of the most oversold concepts in mental health.
In my experience it can be enormously counterproductive to try to force "gratitude"-- especially for trauma survivors who have had our pain disbelieved, minimized, & otherwise invalidated at every turn.
Many survivors reading this are not surrounded by people who support their recovery. That's reality. So we need to stuff our head w/ recovery supporting ideas & "voices."
We can't depend on our environment for that support-- so we need to nurture it inside our head & heart.
Consider this a reminder: you are not under any obligation to stay the version of yourself you were programmed to be growing up. That "you" was shaped by experiences you did not choose.
You get to choose who you are now-- down to the most basic building blocks of your identity.
Maybe you'e not triggered around money because you suck at managing money.
Maybe you're triggered around money because in our culture money is all about control & safety-- & was often used to control & threaten you, in explicit & covert ways, throughout your life.
@TiceRichard This is exactly what you would do in power. It’s why wealthy people donate to political parties. You’re all the same and in it for yourselves.
Something many trauma survivors find as we work our recovery is, we're no longer reflexively censoring ourselves, hiding who we are, what we think, what we need-- & but also, we're less compelled to waste our breath expressing any or all of it to people who haven't earned access.
I'm not that interested in what people who haven't had their lives, jobs, & relationships ruined by trauma, recommend for trauma recovery. And I'm really not interested in whether people who can't reliably pronounce "dissociation" believe Dissociative Identity Disorder exists.
