“i said, if i were your brother, and i said these lines, this is what i want to express after playing wei yan for three months. this is what i want to say from my heart. i want to see how you would respond. ninety-five percent of the lines in this scene, where the brothers are fighting, were written by the two of us and the director (deng ke)… acting is a wonderful thing. in those three or four months, you make the audience believe you, and, at the same time, you believe it yourself.”
