Benicio del Toro spent 2025 making films with directors last name “Anderson” (Paul, Wes), and I think del Toro should continue to work with both forever. In PTA’s 2014 film Inherent Vice, del Toro shows up sparingly, but when he does, every moment is incredible. What an actor.

William Friedkin’s final film was The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial back in 2023 & I can’t emphasize enough how fitting it is that this was Friedkin’s last picture. The final scene- the final frame- will stay with you forever, I promise. Oh, and the cast? Fucking incredible.
ALL OF A SUDDEN is one of the most beautiful, compassionate, and profoundly humane films I’ve ever seen. You can reform a system from within and perhaps extend its life, but the same cannot be said for people. We are all born knowing that one day our time here will end. All we can hope for is that, when that moment comes, we leave this world peacefully. And that’s exactly what this immense film is: peaceful. A soulful meditation on the human condition and celebration of nurses and caregivers unlike almost anything else, it captures our capacity to laugh, love, create, and care for one another as we all move toward the same inevitable fate. Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto are both heartbreaking and heartwarming together, their special bond carrying so much weight with quiet elegance, found in the tiniest of moments. Another intellectual, deeply emotional, and masterfully written and directed work from a brilliant filmmaker, one that earns every second of its 196-minute runtime.

Nobel Laureate in Literature, the Portuguese writer José Saramago said about Che Guevara:
“Che Guevara, if it can be said, existed before he was born; Che Guevara, if it can be affirmed, continued to exist after his death. Because Che Guevara is just another name for what is most just and worthy in the human spirit. What so often lives dormant within us. What we should wake up to know and to know ourselves, to add the humble step of each to the path of all.”
