🚨🗣️ Lamine Yamal on Neymar: "I’ve watched the 6–1 comeback against PSG many times... I saw it live."
"Neymar defined my childhood. He’s my IDOL and I’ll always be grateful for what he’s given to football."
"He inspires all of us. Look, you pay for a ticket to watch Neymar, and even 2 or 3 days after the match, you’d watch it again just to watch Neymar's plays."
"I want to thank Neymar for everything he’s given to football, and hopefully he can be at the World Cup."
Whenever anyone labels Neymar’s career as wasted potential, send them this.
Quite simply, Neymar is a top 15 player in football history. You’d be hard pressed to come up with 15 names that played football at a higher level.
Saying he “didn’t fulfil his potential” is misleading at best, and surface level analysis.
Even if you argue the most extreme point of view. That Neymar’s potential was to become a top 5 player of all time, which is debatable in itself. There is no denying he still came extremely close.
There isn’t a lot of ‘unfulfilled’ potential left. The distance between where he ended up and that ‘hypothetical ceiling’ you’ve labelled him with is still marginal.
• Brazil’s all time top scorer & assister
• 12th most Goals + Assists in history
• 4th most goals ever in Cup Finals
• World-class level from 2011-2023 • Prime at PSG one of the highest peaks of all time.
This is not the footballing CV of a wasted career, or falling short. He left behind a body of work that cements him as one of the greatest to ever kick a ball.
Diego Maradona only played 680 career games. His legacy is not diminished because of it. There is more than enough volume during his prime across varying environments and contexts (club & country), to accurately judge his level and place him amongst the greats. The same applies to Neymar. We have a ~250 game body of work during his peak years (2016-2021) to accurately judge him. Nothing more is needed. More volume wouldn’t make him a better player.
Injuries didn’t prevent him playing football better. His injuries simply reduced volume. We saw 40 games per calendar year, instead of 60.
Neymar’s career can never be described as a story of unfulfilled or wasted potential.
It’s the story of an all-time great career. A career that gave you a unique feeling every time he stepped onto a football pitch, that you were going to see something special, and expected it. He was more than a world class footballer, he belongs in a category very few in history do. Beyond stats, numbers, dissection. He’s in a select group of footballers that are remembered for how it felt to watch and experience them. A combination of artistry, entertainment and output rarely seen in history.
Neymar is a story of almost unimaginable potential that was very nearly fulfilled. That left little to be desired. A game of small margins.

The Imam of Masjid Al-Haram, Sheikh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais, has given an excellent formula for the last ten days of Ramadan.
1. Donate one dirham (one rupee) every day, if the day falls between Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of donating one rupee every day for 84 years or 1000 months.
2. Perform two rak'at nafal prayers daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of performing two rak'at nafal prayers daily for up to 84 years.
3. Recite Surah Ikhlas three times daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of reciting one Khatam Qur'an every day for 84 years.
He also said, spread these words among the people, those who will listen to your words and do deeds, you too will get rewards equal to their deeds, inshallah. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, "The one who guides good deeds will receive the same amount of reward as the doer, but there will be no deficiency in the reward of the doer." (Muslim, 2674)
May Allah grant us all to do more deeds. Amen.❤️
Emotional read.
I don't know what will happen & why exactly it's become this bad this quickly (like Rashford, I strongly feel he is a good fit on paper for Amorim's left 10), but if & when Rashford does leave, it will be a very sad day.
Our best academy talent in decades & we couldn't develop him to his max potential. A player in Man Utd's top 10 for goals & assists who can still easily get into the top 3 for each, if his career returns to normal.
Whatever happens, I'll be behind the manager, esp if it's Amorim or Rashford themselves who have decided it must end. And maybe that's likely & could even be good for both to progress. I'll accept it if it comes to that.
But a part of me still hopes this is a temporary storm, it eventually works out & both achieve success here.
