MLB All Star game has always been the best All Star game because it's still a real game. Pitchers throw as hard as they normally do, with hitters trying to hit the ball as hard as they usually do. No other major sport is even close. Enjoy
I can’t believe the Red Sox won that game… I’m in shock right now.
I know it’s the Mets, but what a moment to push the winning streak to 9 games. They’ve won 14 of 16.
Special win. Hard to say anything but that. Type of win that makes anything feel possible.
The Red Sox annual pre All-Star Break heater:
2023: 8-1 leading into ASB
2024: 10-3 leading into ASB
2025: 12-1 and 10-0 leading into ASB
2026: 14-2 and 9-0 leading into ASB
What a run. What a win. It was a tough 3 months for this team but they've found their identity and have run with it. So much fun. Now I'm going to eat Lobster until Friday. See you then.
It’s the obviously different for everyone, but for me, my 30s were my favorite decade by a landslide.
Hopefully, you’ve got a little more money to your name by 30 & with that, you could and SHOULD do more. You’ve still got energy.
See things. Go places.
Do everyone.
From 30-35 you can still make relatively big mistakes or make a career change & it could be the best thing you’ve ever done.
Because once say, 45 hits?
The energy starts to dramatically diminish. Crankiness & an overall malaise will be unavoidable.
The math unfortunately starts to win. Parents will become feeble & broken. The random friend or two will die.
You worry with each and every doctor’s visit “Will this be the one where I win the reverse lottery”
It’s not great.
Frankly, it mostly sucks.
So enjoy your 30s, friend.
Each and every day of them.
Because anyone who’d ever tell you it gets better in your 40s and beyond is either a liar or filthy rich so they don’t have to worry about shit.
We still aren’t at the All-Star break and the Red Sox are a half game out of a playoff spot. I can’t believe what I’m watching but I’m enjoying every second of it.
Per @SethWickersham: When Bill Belichick and the Patriots divorced in 2024, Sean Payton considered presenting Broncos owner Greg Penner a proposal for the ages: Hire Belichick as head coach until he reached 15 wins, enough to break Don Shula's career record of 347. Payton would temporarily step down to assistant head coach and run the offense, then move back after Belichick became the all-time leader. In the end, it was too complicated -- and maybe too fanciful.
