Robots will never be people.

No matter how sophisticated AI becomes, robots will always be nothing more than a stack of hardware and software technologies — sophisticated tools made by human beings to improve life for human beings.

That said, the development of humanoid robots is incredibly PRO-HUMAN. Some may fear robots which look like people and which essentially replace people in various jobs. But look at the same technology from a different perspective.

Humanoid robots can also keep a huge number of essential jobs interoperable with humans rather than displacing humans from the loop entirely and making us dependent on machines for our very survival.

This kind of interoperability is going to be important as we extend our civilization into space where human labor will often be scarce and replacement robots may not always be available.
