As a lot of us celebrate “Victory Day” in Ethiopia and in the Disapora, I want people to realize that the whole of Europe did not take the defeat of the Italians laying down. The Europeans and the west came back to Ethiopia in later years in the form of missionaries, NGO’s, humanitarian orgs and and other mechanisms committed to using psychological warfare to turn Ethiopians against each other. The conflicts of the past several years have involved western backed “Liberation Movements” and government leaders who have sought to persecute the Amhara ethnic group and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. These two entities top the list of factors that contributed to the loss of the Battle of Adwa. The collective west couldn’t show a 2000 year old version of Christianity in Africa that practiced a faith that completely incorporated the concept of justice that encouraged armed resistance and combat. Nor could it show an African leader who unified every ethnic group in the country to fight European colonialism and imperialism and defeat it. Even now, to this day, Evangelical Christians in America DESIPSE Ethiopian Orthodoxy and seek to undermined and destroy it using evangelicals in Ethiopia. News articles published even last week reveal a taught hatred of Ethnic Amharas because of who the Europeans believed were “the enemy of white people”. As soon as all of our Amhara, Oromo, Tigrayan, Agew, Afar and other brothers and sisters realize they have been turned against each other by the losers of Adwa, we will all thrive.
