Depp was box office poison before the trial. His movies consistently flopped, he developed a reputation for being hard to work with, and new projects existed in the depths of streaming menus.
Why do we pretend he was this massive movie star, unfairly struck down in his prime?
Hadn't seen him act in something new for like a decade so it was really cool to see him flex so hard in this film. Nolan making him the soul of the film is awesome. Need him in more great stuff.
what was the reactionary gamble on this. did they really genuinely believe that a majority of americans would be insanely mad that there was a black actor and a trans actor cast in this movie? most people don’t really care or think about these things as being “abnormal” at all
