If you think it's a lie, look at any matrimonial website. 70-80% of the women have 10x of their own income as the criteria for the man's income.

Marriage is the only way a woman earning 6-7 LPA gets to live with a man earning 50-60 LPA.

And before you say, these men take dowry. Just, shut up. Dowry is illegal. If they took, they can be booked for it.

But this reverse dowry is very much legal and a common practice.

It will become difficult for the next generation of General Category Indians to even breathe freely if such draconian provisions continue ... especially when the system itself financially incentivises their misuse.

What was supposed to be protection(from whom is still unclear) can easily become an earning tool for a few, while the cost is borne by everyone else.

If you're General Category, the message increasingly feels like:

“Compete for fewer opportunities, pay full taxes, expect little(zero) support ..and if you don't like it, leave.”

Then when talented students, professionals and entrepreneurs actually leave India, the same system will cry about “brain drain” and ask them to stay.

You cannot systematically make people feel unwanted and then lecture them about patriotism when they choose opportunity elsewhere.

Policies have consequences.

If India wants to retain its best talent, merit, equal protection and opportunity must matter for EVERY Indian.

Tarun Khatik was from the SC community and was killed by more than 14 people amid a communal dispute on Holi. Yet no Dalit leader stood up for him, there were no protests, no politician raised their voice demanding the arrest of those accused of his killing, and no politician stood with Tarun’s family.

Nishu Azad is also from the SC community. But when she and her father had a dispute with Swatantra Bhardwaj, several politicians stood by her, protests were held, and pressure was put on the authorities to make arrests.

Two incidents, yet completely different responses.

Iin Tarun’s case, those accused were from another religious community, while the person involved in the dispute with Nishu was from the General category.
