This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who served our country. ❤️

Today’s story is about G.I. Jane, a homeless dog who found refuge at a remote VA facility, where kindhearted staff members and G.I. Joes made sure she was never forgotten. For weeks, they fed and protected her until one caring nurse reached out to @HopeForPaws for help.

Archer needs a foster ASAP. This #ginger guy is such a good dog and losing his foster home not because of him.

Archer was an owner surrender to the NYCACC due to the landord not allowing and the owner was pregnant!

other dogs? Yes, but needs slow introductions (gets very excited, which can be overwhelming for other dogs)

On leash? Working on our leash manners but shows vast improvement with
consistent training! Will need a front-lead harness for a while and someone willing to keep working on training
Housetrained? Yes, but as he is still a puppy, occasionally will have an accident if he doesn’t get out enough
Crate trained? Yes! Amazing in the crate

Archer is such a playful goofball who is just as happy playing with you as he is keeping himself occupied with a ball. He’ll thrive in a home where he has a person (or people) who can provide him with space and time to finish working on his manners and play, play, play! He loves to run around outside but is equally jazzed to chase a toy around the living room. He would do well in a home experienced with a young energetic dog who is eager to learn and just needs a little guidance to be the very best companion he can be. Ideally a home where someone is home most of the day as he does need to take periodic potty breaks, or can get a dog walker to break up the day for now. He’ll need consistent outlets for his energy for at least a while ashe has a lot of it, but absolutely doesn’t mean running around outside; he really can wear himself out playing by himself indoors, so doesn’t require an active household, just room to get those zoomies out! I think he would do best as an only dog, but could also see him doing well with an older dog sister or brother who can provide him with examples of good behavior.

#k9hour Born in January 2026, ARES is a sweet young boy, currently around 30 cm tall, & expected to grow into a medium-sized dog. He comes from a difficult hoarding situation, & sadly, his tail has been cut in half. Despite everything he’s been through, Ares is one of the gentlest souls you could ever meet. He is incredibly calm & quiet, the kind of dog you barely notice in the house because he’s so peaceful & well-behaved, but when you look into his eyes you can see the sadness he still carries. He’s only just beginning to discover what it means to be a dog, he didn’t know how to play with toys at first, but since spending time with two small female dogs, he’s slowly starting to open up & learn. It’s beautiful to watch him grow in confidence day by day. Ares would thrive in a home where he’s not alone, ideally with other dogs or people around most of the time, & would do wonderfully in a family who can help him continue to build trust & feel safe.
