#MARTIN#마틴 elle exclusive
elle: as you have described yourselves as a “young creator crew.” how important is it for all five members to be involved in the writing and composition process, and how do your individual ideas influence the final sound?
🦒 having all five members involved in the creative process is a really important part of what makes cortis who we are. we all have different tastes in music, and we each have our own ideas and ways of expressing ourselves when we’re making music. so even if a song starts with one person’s idea, we really value the process of having the other members freely share their thoughts and add their own colours to it as we build the song together.
sometimes our different tastes and ideas might clash, but those moments can also lead us in new directions that we wouldn’t have thought of at first. ultimately, i think the music that feels uniquely cortis can only come from the five of us creating together, each bringing our own individuality to the process. going forward, we want to keep being deeply involved in the creative process and continue making music where you can naturally feel all five members’ different colours.
elle: who are your biggest style influences right now? are there any artists, designers or even fictional characters whose style you’d love to experiment with?
🦒 these days, rather than having a specific artist or designer as a style icon, i find myself listening to a lot of my older work. when i listen to music i made in the past, i can look back on what i was thinking about at the time, what i liked, and how i was trying to express myself. it helps me understand myself on a deeper level. interestingly, when i listen to my older work, there are parts that feel completely new to me now, and sometimes ideas that i wasn’t able to fully develop back then come back to me.
so in a way, my past work itself has become a source of inspiration for me. rather than simply following someone else’s style, i want to keep looking back at what i’ve created and discover new sides of myself and new ways of expressing myself through it. i think that’s what naturally leads me to forms of expression that only i can create at this point in my life.
