Today, TNECD convened leaders from Tennessee’s colleges and universities, local power companies and community partners for a statewide quantum workshop focused on collaboration, innovation and strategic planning.
The group shared ongoing quantum initiatives, explored opportunities for partnership and aligned on priorities for Phase 1 of the state's Tennessee Quantum Initiative, a $43 million investment designed to position Tennessee as a national leader in quantum computing, advanced manufacturing and grid infrastructure.
Together, we discussed best practices for building a statewide quantum network, expanding research and development opportunities, attracting new industry investment and ensuring Tennessee remains at the forefront of the quantum economy. 👏

Deputy Governor/@CommishTNECD Stuart C. McWhorter and Deputy Commissioner Allen Borden joined former Governor @BillHaslam and @Bridgestone Corporation Global CEO Yasuhiro Morita last week to discuss preparations for the 48th Annual Joint Meeting between the Southeast U.S./Japan Association (SEUS/Japan) and its Japanese counterpart, the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association (Japan-USSE) in Nashville this October.
Governor Haslam will serve as Chairman alongside Mr. Morita, who will serve with Mr. Masaaki Tsuya as Japan’s Joint Co-Chairs.
