Giving my quick two cents on this because I think the topic has gone on long enough (sorry for a yet another annoying rant from me)

I find it a little contradictory when people talk about fashion being a form of self-expression, but then criticize Yeonjun for the way he chooses to express himself through it. U don’t have to like every style he tries, but more importantly, what he wears is his choice!! People’s tastes evolve, they go through different phases and they’re allowed to move on from things that once felt like “them”

It’s completely valid to miss an era or have a personal preference for a particular style What I don’t think is fair is turning that preference into an expectation that he should dress a certain way to satisfy us. If fashion is about expressing urself, then that freedom has to apply even when someone’s choices aren’t what u personally would choose for them

And I also think we sometimes need to take Yeonjun at his word when he tells us he doesn’t care what people think about his appearance. I genuinely don’t think every change in his hair or fashion needs to have some deeper explanation involving fans or public opinion. Not everything he moves on from was “ruined” for him
Take the pink hair, for example! From what he’s said, he wanted to try rainbow hair and the Blue Hour pink was simply the closest to what he had envisioned at the time. He eventually wanted to try something different and that’s perfectly okay. It doesn’t need to be turned into a story about how someone “ruined” pink hair for him

We can miss an era without creating narratives around his choices that he’s never actually expressed himself. Sometimes he simply liked something, tried it, grew out of it and moved on. And honestly, I think it’s worth giving him that same freedom of self-expression we’re always saying fashion should give everyone

Some of u r gonna hate me for saying this because it’s a bitter pill to swallow, and I also don’t care, but I really think we need to talk about the role the fandom itself has played in letting this get so bad

These people didn’t just become this comfortable out of nowhere. We’ve been giving them likes, hit tweets, quote tweets, jokes and attention for years, so obviously they’re gonna keep doing it when they know they’ll get rewarded for it. Something that would’ve been called weird or inappropriate before is now brushed off as “just fandom humor” because people have gotten so used to seeing it

And honestly, we need to take some responsibility too. U can’t rlly complain about how sexualized the fandom has become while constantly giving these accounts attention, boosting their posts, copying their jokes and treating everything they say like entertainment. Every time u make those things go viral, u’re helping normalize it

There’s obviously nothing wrong with normal thirsting but there’s a huge difference between that and constantly turning everything they do into sexual content and when the fandom keeps rewarding the latter, people just keep pushing the line further
If we actually want things to change, it can’t just be about calling these people out after they’ve already crossed a line. We also need to stop giving them the attention and validation that makes them feel comfortable doing it in the first place

people here are way too comfortable judging yeonjun and treating him like he’s some kind of doll they get to customize. they act like he has to please them in every possible way, wear exactly the style they want, dye his hair whatever color they prefer, and basically mold himself into whatever image they have in their heads. please remember your place as a fan. yeonjun is an independent person with his own opinions, preferences, taste, and sense of style. of course there are things we’d love to see him wear or hair colors we’d love to see him try, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with expressing that. but expecting him to constantly cater to those preferences and acting entitled to dictate every aspect of his appearance is taking it way too far. he’s allowed to make his own choices without having to live up to every expectation people have of him.

moatwt would be more enjoyable if everybody just respected everybody and would allow them to try different things and support them instead of nitpicking everything. if he wants to keep blonde or brown hair for 3 years, who cares!!! if he wants to grow his hair out, cut it short or even shave it all off… who cares!! yall would be happier if you’d actually just enjoy stuff instead of complaining 24/7 about stupid stuff like this. content can only be enjoyable for a good hour before some of you start being all negative.

the other yj pages saying the same thing but it is 100% true. everybody has their own tastes, but it gets to a point where you’re projecting what you want onto him. everybody has favorite looks, styles and hair colors, but at what point do you just accept what he looks like right now..? he’s changed a lot over the years! fashion styles change over the years, so what if he wants to go for a more simpler look? people will talk about how __ ruined one hair color but then in the same breath some of yall do the same exact thing with his other colors all because you want a different one. this goes for hairstyles too. he said he enjoys slicked back hair, so why keep pushing against what he likes? obviously people are allowed to dislike things, but the way some of you say it comes off very degrading and demanding.

not to guilt trip anybody, but he always goes to moas for their opinions and advice. if he’s trying something new, just go with it? you think he wants to see fans complain about his current appearance? there’s a constant issue of people never enjoying anything. you’re not him, you’re a fan. just complain in private instead of having us all be subject to your posts. this is has been an issue i’ve also seen in my quotes, please stop being weird over his choices and his current look. i already said this but some of you are sounding real weird over his hair colors.

there’s ways to go about things and how to say them without sounding like you’re just calling him stupid for what he chooses to look and dress like..! if you don’t do this, it’s not about you

he’s not a robot, he’s a human, he has feelings like the rest of us and he has his own tastes! don’t dictate to him what he should and should not do (unless it’s something bad/offensive of course). we’re fans, not friends. let’s all just love him and respect what he chooses 👍
