Commentary::
According to the Buddhist tradition, these words were spoken by The Infant Buddha at His birth after taking seven steps, lotus flowers blooming beneath His feet. There is the deeper meaning to this saying as per who is the "I" referred to here.

Zen Master Dogen, in the Shobogenzo, explains that this "I" is Not the ego self filled with craving, fear, and identity. It is the Awakened Nature itself aka - The Buddha-Nature present within all beings.

The "Honoured One" is not a separate person standing above the world. It is the timeless reality that shines through all life when delusion falls away.

Like waves rising and falling upon one vast ocean, beings appear separate, yet share the same depth beneath.

The Buddha's birth proclamation is therefore Not a declaration of personal superiority, but a revelation of the sacredness hidden within existence itself.

To Awaken to this is to see the world, and oneself, with entirely different eyes. 🙏
