A government that uses a chicken company’s religious observance to restrict people’s right to vote is weaponizing religion against constitutional rights.
“We cannot raise the minimum wage, because then the price of everything will go up.”
*They didn’t raise the minimum wage.*
*The price of everything still skyrocketed.*
We have hungry sailors trying to jump overboard, people working doubles, and families terrified that they’re going to lose their healthcare.
But instead of fixing the real issues in this country, this incompetent man is obsessing over his $900 million ballroom.
The most disloyal person in this country isn’t the family trying to survive. It’s Trump.
We drove from Beech Mountain to Asheville yesterday. We passed an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway near Linville where the Parkway remains closed due to Hurricane Helene damage sustained in September 2024. On Highway 221 and again on Highway 70, we crossed over temporary metal grate bridges because the permanent concrete bridges that Helene destroyed haven’t been replaced. And where we turned left on Lake Tahoma Road near Marion, you can’t turn right because the road is closed due to Hurricane Helene damage.
Michael Whatley was Trump’s Hurricane Helene Recovery Czar. And what did he do to help Western North Carolina after this catastrophic storm? Very little. The federal government usually covers at least 75% of natural disaster costs. Under Whatley’s “leadership,” we’ve gotten less than 1/5 of that.
Don’t let Michael Whatley fail all of North Carolina the way he failed us here in Western North Carolina!
Motherfucker — you campaigned for Bernie.
Here’s a picture of you and I, back in 2016, standing outside a Bernie rally in Philly for fucks sake.
The Democratic Party isn’t becoming socialist. You are just getting too comfy with the genocidal fascists.
Want to remind everyone that if you're like "huh it's been really hard to get info on this massive outbreak" that DOGE fired every communications staffer at the CDC last year (in addition to their food inspection teams!)
The White House normally gets $2.5 million a year for maintenance. Trump’s team has allocated $875 million.
That’s 350 years’ worth of the usual budget spent by a single administration.
My boomer dad asked me last week why I'm still renting at 43.
I told him a starter home in our area is $410,000.
He said "so save up."
I said the down payment alone is $82,000.
He said "that's not so bad, break it into pieces."
I said after rent, insurance, and daycare I put away maybe $400 a month.
He did the math out loud. Got to seventeen years. Went quiet.
Then he said something I didn't expect.
"I put down $3,200 on our first place. I had it saved in eight months working at the plant."
Then he just sat there for a second.
"I always thought you kids were exaggerating."
That's it. That's the whole conversation.
He wasn't being cruel. He genuinely had no idea. Nobody ever showed him the number.
Most of them aren't defending the system. They just never looked at it.
