@ElAjustaPerreo@gogogaga834224 (You and @ScourgeSolace are right that you'd probably have to make changes to their characterization to make that work tho, I agree it falls apart if they're too willing to defy orders)
@ElAjustaPerreo@gogogaga834224 On the contrary (again, just IMO) I think the clones' humanity & their relationship w/ the Jedi being so fleshed out is what makes it stronger if the decision remains in their own hands.
It'd be a betrayal of deep friendship for what they (incorrectly) think is the greater good.
@VanClouten@LapGong@marwood_lennox - some do though most don't
- yes
- depends on the sport & level of competition. generally pro no, college yes.
- yes
- you said sports leagues twice
- yes, though usually they're affiliated with a nationwide brand
- saying "federal" is an oxymoron but different state laws yes.
@AnnoyedSoxFan if there's a big disparity in the run calcs with fangraphs then yeah fairer complaint then. i don't know really know enough about what would cause that.
@AnnoyedSoxFan tbf there's def room to argue over bref's fielding/baserunning run assessments โ statcast derived stats sometimes disagree, oaa vs drs for example โ but inasmuch as we're using bref's numbers that's what's going on under the hood with their war.
@AnnoyedSoxFan fielding and baserunning.
every time someone makes a bref h2h chart and says "but why's the war different?", it's always fielding and baserunning.
kurtz has +1 runs across rfield, rdp & rbaser. murakami has -3. which pretty much entirely cancels out his advantage in rbat.
This seems... fine? At least as a first draft proposal?
Like I'd imagine the union could/should push to raise the cap higher, but the $171M floor is already a MASSIVE concession considering how few teams spend that right now.
BREAKING: As expected, MLB proposed a hard salary cap to union officials today as part of the next CBA, sources tell ESPN. The salary floor for teams beginning in 2027 would be set at $171.2 million which includes player benefits with the ceiling at $245.3 million.
@lightningmatttt well yes ofc that can be a powerful device. but breaking a convention still kinda requires that you acknowledge the convention exists in the first place.
much like how intentionally clashing colors can be evocative but you still need to know color theory to pull it off right.
Has anyone made an argument against the importance of "powerscaling, the literary dynamic" that doesn't amount to knowingly conflating it with "powerscaling, the very annoying fandom community" yet? Cause if so I've yet to see it.
We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.
@malexlikesfilms if spine space is an issue, you could abbreviate? something like "RSA & ZWE" would give greater specificity while using only seven characters and two spaces.
@marashaman04 People are really confusing powerscaling- the broad concept that is inherent to most stories involving any kind of physical conflict, with powerscaling- the dumb & corny internet hobby engaged in by dudes who are obsessed with proving Goku can beat Superman or whatever tf.
