The path forward: Get really into the whole Bible, the whole rich tapestry of church history, the whole system of Christian doctrine, and a whole-person spirituality lived in the context of the local church. Resist fads, read widely, don't be weird.

The Trinity, the virgin birth, giants, angels, demons, talking animals... There is nothing we believe in the core doctrines of Christianity that will be acceptable in a purely rationalist materialist worldview. Zero. So you might as well own up to it.
