@John_Zannis Boston’s offensive system allowed the team to thrive in spite of Jaylen, not because of him and game 7 against Philly was proof of that. When they needed Jaylen to create, the offense cratered
@John_Zannis He wasn’t top-15 as a Celtic, but as a Sixer he is. He wasn’t worth a couple second rounders as a Celtic but as a Sixer he’s an MVP-candidate. He was lucky to be traded at all as a Celtic but as a Sixer he deserves to feel epically insulted for having been dealt
@ColeyMick When Jaylen has fucked up the development of VJ and is subtweeting Embiid in the media, this will be seen in such a different light. 100% addition by subtraction and I loved watching JB as a Celtic for the past decade. He’s past being a superstar and he will never accept that
@John_Zannis zero percent chance 7 is in the rafters now right? It was kind of an asinine take even before he got traded that they would retire his number. Just more evidence of how stunted JB’s view of himself on this team happened to be
@John_Zannis There has been almost no actual reporting throughout this trade saga, almost entirely speculation and half-assed, recycled takes. Jaylen was a net negative, was not worth his contract, and ultimately got salary dumped but the second he’s in Philly everyone says he’s a superstar
@John_Zannis I’m terrified after the Giannis contract news from Simmons that Brad is looking at this Red Sox-style cost cutting and poverty spending and thinks about cutting bait and moving to San Antonio to coach again if they move on from their HC next season if they don’t win a title.
@isaiahthomas Thank you for all the great memories as a Celtic IT! Seeing Jaylen traded today reminds me as a fan how special the moments we share are watching you guys ball every night for us and I’m grateful to have gotten to watch you dominate as the King in the 4th
@ColeyMick I cannot get over everyone losing their minds acting like Jaylen was a HOFer we gave away for scraps when he was a negative asset yesterday. Now anonymous GMs are calling it highway robbery when the same GMs were acting like getting of JB’s contract would be a miracle
@AdamMKaufman JB is not in his prime anymore, he’s fallen off massively defensively and is a ball-hog to be productive offensively. It’s not a great trade, but let’s not act like Jaylen is 2009 Kobe we’re offloading.
@ColeyMick I love how JB is simultaneously a bum who no team wants and a franchise legend who should be deeply insulted by being included in trade talks. Boston cannot win a trade going forward no matter what because the entirety of the NBA and the celebrity media is determined to screw us
@John_Zannis Boston will always be at a disadvantage with these situations because GMs rationally see the ability to hold the Celtics over a barrel and the media either calls JB the 7th best player on a team or a franchise legend who should feel deeply insulted even being brought up in convos
@John_Zannis@McScottyMustard What would their record have been last year with a Jalen Duren or Naz Reid instead of Jaylen? He carried the team all year and now he’s a liability not contributing to winning basketball??
@John_Zannis I honestly think if he was the one star on a team he’d be thought of as elite but because he’s always been the second fiddle in everyone’s minds to JT they push JB down a peg. Replace Brunson with Brown and the Knicks win in even-more convincing fashion
@Hogdale_ Less than zero leadership in this franchise. The fact he’s still allowed to have a job and state on EEI that they’re still waiting to go on a run is asinine.
