Today is children’s day, but 46 innocent children learning in their classrooms in Ogbomosho, Oyo state were kidnapped by gunmen.

It’s been two painful weeks already and these children are still not home with their families, suffering out there in the cold and enduring fear and uncertainty that no child should ever know.

This is a National crisis and the government must use every resource necessary to bring these children home. Nothing else matters in this moment.

We owe our children a safer country.

CONTINUOUS ABDUCTION OF NIGERIAN SCHOOLCHILDREN AND THE COLLAPSE OF SCHOOL SAFETY

After congratulating Nigerian children as they celebrate their day today, my heart remains heavy and troubled, knowing that some Nigerian children have remained in captivity for years. It is a shame that days, weeks, months, and even years have passed while our children continue to languish in kidnappers’ dens, with their heartbreaking images still circulating on social media.

A nation that cannot protect its children from criminals has little but shame to present to the global community. No parent can bear the shame of being unable to protect his or her children, yet here we are as a nation, moving on while our children continue to suffer in forests and captivity for years. -PO

Had a visa deadline, reached the country ambassador and she said there’s nothing she can do, I have to wait a year. Found a website, got a date, went for interview, got the visa…all in 2 weeks (against the norm).
Tried to find the website again and turns out it doesn’t exist.

I had kidney infection.
It made me repeat JSS3. This was for close to a year. I could not walk, my Dad would take me to LUTH and so many hospitals around Lagos. Then one day, my Mum’s friend told my Mum there would be a night vigil at Canaan Land and Bishop David Oyedepo would pray for me. Never been there before but with faith, my Mum took me there.

The recent trend of #dapofixogunroads should be a welcome development as Increased attention naturally brings scrutiny and the demand for Ogun State to maximize its full potential should be seen as constructive, not negative.

This once again highlights the importance for local government autonomy. It’s understandable that the State government may not be fully aware of every deteriorated road in all corners of the region. Therefore, the efforts to identify and address the needs of the people should be recognized and applauded. Hopefully more states to follow. #theforensicpolitics

In 1993, Police abducted me at the gates of the University of Lagos while I was leading an anti-military protest; they drove me to the Lagos Police Command Headquarters at Ikeja before handing me over to the DSS at Shangisha in Lagos. The guys that received me kept screaming, “King of Water Palace.” I later found out it was how they code-named me because water from my 4th-floor room at Jaja Hall made the stairwell to my room slippery due to a broken pipe. They thought I planned it to make an arrest or abduction difficult. Later, I was sent to their (DSS) Awolowo Road Ikoyi office, where I was interrogated for several hours until I passed out. I was then detained at the Inter Center inside Ikoyi Cementary at Ikoyi for days until students of UNILAG (unable to locate me began a lecture/exam boycott christened “No Sho-No Exam”. I was released shortly after the protest and was 22 years old at that time.
