Revealing my latest project, a realtime-generated adventure game where you play with an AI dungeon master.
Fully ascii-based, designed to be played through an SSH to a tinybox (from @__tinygrad__), more backends coming soon.
Playtest Driven Design - Using AI Agents for Game Design
New video is out!
Using @NousResearch Hermes Agent on my @__tinygrad__ tinybox running @Alibaba_Qwen Qwen 3.6 27b.

@yacineMTB Sad more don't think / value like this.
The masses gave up physical media to purchase a license to play a game that the publisher can revoke at any time for any reason.
And cloud gaming will be another step in this direction.....
@valigo In my experience, python has been used in non-performance critical areas, so code understandability trumps all (excluding numpy/pandas aligned scenarios).
But I guess in the web work where js is the only thing you have, things can get wacky.
@yacineMTB This.
I am experimenting with agent driven game development and I have to inject my taste really early in the pipeline for it to come out decent.
Everyone loves to think about how much unexplored territory there is in machine learning.
But I bet there's also tons of things already explored that didn't get enough popularity or explored deep enough.
Only real way to realize either/both is to drive down compute costs.
@yacineMTB I also wonder how much the "openness" of research allowed plays into this. I would wager a decent number of people would jump ship if Zuck offered "everything OAI gives you rn + you can publish your work".
In the future, most forms of imitation learning from human data will be illegal. The data is too contaminated with our evolutionary instincts that are bad for scaling a society.
Support for windows and other backends have been added so you can give it a try if you have a mediocre GPU or above.
Video going over game + install tutorial in reply.

@investigatescom @__tinygrad__ Nope, that's through SDXL with a pixel art Lora so it looks good once I pass it through the ASCII filter.
As for why ASCII? This whole thing was designed to be played in a terminal through an SSH connection, so text is the only option for showing images.

@investigatescom @__tinygrad__ Also once I settle on the best model and the game has matured I will most certainly be attempting to fine tune the model with my game's structure
@investigatescom @__tinygrad__ Mistral 24B, I started off trying to get the qwen 32B distill of Deepseek R1 working but ran into too many issues.
The Mistral model came out in the middle of my testing and worked pretty quick with good quality, but will explore more in the future.
It took me a while to get the architecture right, with the whole thing designed around optimally using a KV cache.
The quality of responses I get keep impressing me, and there is so much room to grow with this project: not only with adding more events and features but also getting free upgrades to the quality of the Dungeon Master as new LLMs keep getting released.
(Excited to wire this up to Grok and see how it handles things...)
