Pamela and Paulie. 2 married females who were inseparable. Paulie was blind but could remember the layout of her cage, where her food, water and nest was. #pigeons#birds
One of the reasons I love birdwatching is it provides me with amazing experiences. I had one today, here's the story.
A fellow birdwatcher sent me a text about two weeks ago that there was a Roseate Spoonbill in our area but I was somewhere else and knew I wouldn't see it. When I have had the chance I've looked for it but never saw it. I got another text this morning that it was back and both my wife and I were quick to get on our scooters and see if we could spot it. As we crossed the bridge toward the mainland, we stopped about 2/3rds of the way across to scan for the bird and we spotted it almost immediately despite it being all the way over on the shoreline. We started heading the rest of the way over but I was keeping an eye on the birdie and it popped up and started flying towards me. I brought the scooter to a quick halt and grabbed my camera out of the bag and got it on and dialed in my settings. Here's the first shot I got. If I had been seconds earlier or later or not reacted instantly when I saw the bird move, I would have missed my chance. I have said it before, but this makes me feel like I've won the lottery!
Lucky to spot this buzzard flying overhead from behind and just managed to point camera and get few pics...only noticed due to its shadow on ground in front of me. 😉
