JHR is dismayed by the killing of Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufa in Gaza on Sunday.
We condemn in the strongest terms the targeting of journalists and demand Israel immediately end such attacks, which constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and an assault on press freedom.
Since the start of the conflict, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) estimates that 192 journalists have been killed, making this the deadliest conflict for journalists in its 33 years of data collection.
We also re-amplify our earlier call for an end to Israel’s policy of restricting aid to Gaza, which has led to mass starvation, including of journalists: https://t.co/rX5q05UaRw
