stETH and wstETH
The peg is fine. On Curve, selling 1K stETH returns 999.2 ETH (−0.08%), and 10K returns 9,971 ETH (−0.29%). The Curve pool is shallow (about 14.6K ETH on the ETH side), so large sellers trade elsewhere. There's no sign of panic.
Consensys runs about 2.1% of Lido's 9.84M ETH. Having that stake idle for a few weeks lowers stETH's APR by a few basis points.
About the Metamask incident
Everything below comes from the beacon chain, Ethereum RPC, MEV relay data and Lido's key registry. Times are UTC.
The attacker's address: 0x98B9231de84334c1d48BA0b72CF13f92484924A3
- It was funded at 10:27 on Sept 30 from Tornado Cash's 0.1 ETH pool.
- It then received 18 payments between 12:12 and 16:46 that day, totalling 0.3614 ETH.
- Its balance is 0.4592 ETH, exactly the funding plus those payments. It has never sent a transaction, and nothing new has arrived since 16:46 on Sept 30.
The whole exit queue is 23,252 validators and 764K ETH, which takes about 9.8 days to clear (to around Oct 11).
About 193K ETH of that comes from other Lido operators: Stakely, Ebunker, ChainLayer, HashKey, stakefish and Launchnodes.
Lido's exit oracle didn't request those exits, but each of those operators is also in Lido's new curated module (v2).
So it's most likely Lido's planned migration happening at the same time, not this attack; none of their blocks paid the attacker.
100% spot on. One interesting path for teams anchored to higher private valuations is to quietly launch much lower and let the market discover it before the full GTM/listing push.
In that model, early price discovery almost becomes the new airdrop: the upside goes to people actually paying attention and participating, rather than farmers optimizing for a snapshot.
@Melt_Dem the hard part isn’t “who gets the next token?” It’s “what scarce resource or state does getting that token first let you capture?” without that downstream bottleneck, there’s no meaningful sequencing rent
Are you building any of these use cases on @Starknet already?
Are you building any of these and still considering @Starknet?
We want to hear from you and invest 100k.
