@HVNYrefugee This is one of the dumbest threads I’ve read in a long time. Leftist colonization? This guy probably thinks the Sermon on the Mount - or the whole Book of Matthew - is woke Marxist propaganda. He doesn’t mention other “recent” woke artists like Dolly Parton or Johnny Cash.
@Starkville_PD Whoever wrote this needs to review how dependent clauses work in a sentence. If officers are patrolling the city from the comfort of my bed…
@0liviajulianna Graduated high school 1985. Had a thrift store typewriter. Learned how to type from a library book. Most of my papers were hand-written. Average 10 words per line, so 250-300/page. Word counts estimated based on that. In college I would hand write drafts and type the final copy.
Last night, Atlanta police arrested 30 people charging many with domestic terrorism.
Those arrested included at least one legal observer during a festival and gathering organized as part of a week of action to stop Cop City, a $90 million dollar police militarization facility.
@tatereeves I support this legislation and I am glad you signed it, but we should celebrate with a native plant picture, not a star magnolia (native to Japan). If you want, you can use this photo I took in Winston County yesterday of a Red Buckeye, Aesculus pavia.
Breathtaking control of viewpoint and content throughout all academic activity in the entire Florida system. All colleges and universities are forbidden to spend any money to fund pedagogy, programming, or activities that “espouse diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
@FrognLily@BuckAngel@noahmichelson If you go to use the ladies room and you find Buck Owens in there, what are you going to do? Tell him to leave? Complain to the manager? Call the cops? I don’t think Buck is going to hurt anybody, but his presence in the female space will make people uncomfortable.
@FrognLily@BuckAngel@noahmichelson I never said it’s better to assume that. I’m just pointing out the consequences of excluding trans women from female spaces: 1: enforcers will mistakenly ban some cis women, 2: if the rule is gender assigned at birth, trans men are forced to use female spaces.
@FrognLily@BuckAngel@noahmichelson I’m not mad at you. We are talking about female spaces, and you said you were uncomfortable with anyone being in them. Which means you want to be alone, which is outside the definition of a female space. It’s not feasible to have a public restroom all to yourself.
@TokenTelrance@BuckAngel@noahmichelson What’s more complicated, asking everyone to just get along or creating millions of new restrooms/locker rooms and separate leagues across all team sports?
@Carl4congressms@CecilBrown18 They don’t get from Mississippi. Or Arkansas, Louisiana, or Alabama. They get it from blue states, where incomes are much higher and people pay more federal tax. Red states depend absolutely on the largess of blue states when it comes to Fed $$.
@FrognLily@BuckAngel@noahmichelson Well, that would be a toilet in your own home, I guess. If you want to use the bathroom in a movie theater, there’s gonna be other people. If we exclude trans women from the women’s room, trans men will be kicked out of the men’s room: you’ll be peeing next to Buck.
@BuckAngel@noahmichelson Also, if enforced, such a ban will inevitably eject a masculine-looking cis woman from a female space here and there. The people who task themselves with parsing cis and trans people and making that call in the moment will not get it right every time.
@BuckAngel@noahmichelson I understand what you are saying, but can we both agree that laws forcing you, Buck, to use the ladies room are a bad idea? Don’t you think the average woman is going to be more comfortable, generally, with a trans woman in the bathroom than with a trans man such as yourself?
