BREAKING: A powerful clip of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is going viral, because he speaks to the importance of protest: "the greatness of America is the right to protest for right."
Share widely.
I put these two clips of Daddy together because I want to share him saying โIโm tired of marching,โ then, after continuing the multifaceted work of nonviolence, saying โIโve been to the mountaintop.โ
The 2nd clip is from the speech he gave the night before he was assassinated.

Yesterday, Reuters captured ICE breaking down a door and dragging a man out half-naked into the freezing cold in Saint Paul.
According to his sister-in-law, they returned him after realizing heโs a naturalized U.S. citizen with no criminal record.
ICE agents broke into a familyโs home in Minneapolis without a warrant, handcuffed an elderly naturalized U.S. citizen with no criminal record, pointed a gun at his daughter-in-lawโs head, denied him proper clothing, and forced him outside half-naked in freezing temperatures.
They then drove him around for nearly an hour before dropping him back at his apartment as if nothing had happened.
ICE is completely out of control

This #MLKDay, remember my father by:
Amplifying and advocating for the end of state-sanctioned and facilitated violence against Black and Brown immigrants and against people, period.
Speaking up for people who are suffering genocide in Sudan. Palestine, Congo, and other nations.
Calling and writing your Congresspersons in support of democracy as opposed to dictatorship.
Supporting policies to eradicate poverty (higher minimum wage, affordable housing, etc)
Learning the truth about and challenging anti-Black racism, which is still prevalent in healthcare, media, lending practices, the criminal โjusticeโ system, etc.

โOur president has issued no statement this year in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This administrationโs only notice of the day was when it announced that it had eliminated this holiday from the list of days with free entry to national parks.โ

@TheCasaFRC@Franoutreach@FranciscanOFS@unetweets@VaticanIHD@WashArchdiocese As Franciscans in 2026, as we recall the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, it is important for us to renew our commitment to standing with our brother, Martin, in the ongoing quest to live the Gospel through nonviolence and interracial solidarity.
Franciscans presented Dr. King with the ST. FRANCIS PEACE MEDAL in 1963
Friar Philip Marquard said of people who objected: "confusion exists even in the minds of upright people, and reflects just one of the many problems Dr. King is faced with in his unselfish task."
A cartoon about my father from the 1960s. At the time he was assassinated, a poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in the United States.
Today, his message has been distorted by many who would have hated him then, but evoke him now to deter justice and truth.
