Otsego scored the first 8 points of the game, but Sturgis responded with a 15-2 run to go up 15-10. Otsego then scored the final 8 points of the 1st half to take an 18-15 edge into the break. After Sturgis scored the first basket of the 2nd half, Otsego used its own 15-2 run to go up 33-19. Again Sturgis answered with a 16-2 run to tie it at 35 in the 4th qtr.

Mya Engbers picked up a steal on the wing and went coast to coast to break the tie and put Otsego ahead once again. On their next possession, Madden Fitzpatrick went to the FT line; after hitting the 1st, Engbers cut in to rebound and score the 2nd attempt to put Otsego up 40-35. Sturgis got FGs by Angela Cary on the press break and a layup by Cora Phillips on a baseline inbounds, both off assists by Kinder Smith, to pull within 40-39. Audrey Lingbeek went to the FT line & hit both for Otsego, and Brooke Smalldon added a final FT to seal it. Otsego wins the battle for 1st place in the Wolverine Conference, 43-39.

Jr Mya Engbers (pictured, #10) scored 12 points with 6 of Otsego's 10 4th qtr points, including the 2 key baskets mentioned above. Sr Western Michigan softball recruit Audrey Lingbeek (pictured, #23) hit a pair of 3s in adding 10 points. 6'1" jr Brooke Smalldon was held well below her nearly 20ppg average, but finished just short of a double-double with 9-&-11.

Sr Angela Cary (pictured, #12) led all scorers with 17 points to go with 7 rebounds. 6' soph Cora Phillips (pictured, #24) was 1 rebound shy of a double-double with 12-&-9. Sr Kinder Smith used her speed and hustle to pick up steals defensively and set up teammates offensively with 7 steals and 5 assists.
