Many runners train hard but do not reach their potential. I help fix this. SMARTer training, fueling, race-day strategy. DM for my free AVOID THE BONK report.
Why do marathon runners get injured?!
Findings from a recent study of over 700 runners

@JasonFitz1@RebuiltPt I took “tempo” out of my terminology a couple years back. Just don’t like the term. I use “stamina” to replace it. I also rarely use term “marathon pace” for my runners unless advanced or have true evidence of it. A “hope pace” is not marathon pace IMO 👊
Most athletes are in awful metabolic shape...
And they don't know it.
Then they skimp on the low zones because they're "time-crunched" and go straight to intensity.
All that does? Reinforce the limiter.
Want to really improve over long time horizons?
Build the aerobic base first.
Earn the higher zones.
@ProfTimNoakes Curious of your thoughts on salt loading before hard, longer or very warm efforts? I promote it for my athletes & they just feel better. Evidence may be spotty but if an athlete goes into an exercise event with more blood volume, they are more resilient and perhaps need less H2O
Enjoyed being on Marathon Running podcast again with Letty talking marathon training and the Panic Phase of training or trying to cram in your training because of life events, injury, lack of time judgment.
I share my insight with these challenges. 👊

When I slow down the average runner they then run more, enjoy it more and get more fit! Works every time! Then add a bit more spice.
Many want to reach for a time, 5K time, BQ etc then risk increases and things may fall apart. #commonsensetraining
Your training volume sets your performance limit.
Sure you can do intervals for a couple of months to get a temporary boost.
But, for lasting, sustained improvement, the only way forward is to figure out how you can do (and absorb) more.
So true! Running is magical and not just about a time or a goal!! In some ways we lose focus and increase risk if obsessed with a goal.
And my bike ride later is not the same feeling as running gives me unfortunately! 😞
Dear Runners. Not everyone runs to become faster. Some run to heal. To breathe. To remember they’re alive.
If you’re out there running at your pace, you’re already winning. 🥇
@BiotechGirlOKC@runliftrunlift What are your weekly miles? The lower mileage runners I coach feel better mentally with day off before. It’s the perception that going in more rested is helpful. Philosophically, I like a little run day before but I read the feel of each individual athlete. Do what feels right!
The Mental Game in racing is real!
To perform your best on race day, your race strategy and how your brain ties into it is huge!
Optimal race day performance is more than just following “the plan”.
I share some tips here. You can also follow me on IG @runcoachtodd
Love this! If training turns into a “grind” mentality then most athletes lose motivation, fun, sustainability.
Consistency and patience is often ignored for finding a plan that promises fast results. Also increases risk! Train SMARTer! 👊
This is why the Internet has been a net negative for many athletes...
We're *talking about* our training more than ever before, but training less than ever before.
Great stuff from @inaki_delaparra and @joelfilliol on "real coaching" and what really matters for performance 👏
STFU and train!
@Brady_H You may. chasers have nothing to do about drinking 😂 I have a lot of cool names of workouts I give to my runners. Gotta make it fun for them! 👊
