@girdley Since CFA stopped cooking their fries in peanut oil, Five Guys is the only place with great fries.
Plus their burgers are excellent.
I’ll pay. Everything is getting more expensive, and I’d prefer paying more to decreased quality.

@shagbark_hick Hickory has kept their downtown area alive. Go visit the Olde Hickory Station in the old train station, or the Olde Hickory Tap Room.

The aviation museum out at the airport was a favorite when my boys were younger.

But overall, get off the highway and explore the countryside

@booksandbbq As an Eastern NC native, I’ve used recent college visits to enjoy some Lexington style barbecue. I still don’t prefer it to real ‘cue, but I can enjoy it.

@booksandbbq But I worked at a papermill in Florence SC for a summer in college. And I have to say that I ate really really well. Lots of free meals from vendors.
