Makeup/demo of the depositors shouldn’t matter at all. Fundamental issue is individuals and corporations should feel safe depositing money into a bank. If they don’t we are back to a barter economy - and then good luck to all of us.
You’re better than this Andrew. Bailout would imply shareholders/bondholders didn’t get wiped out. They did. The alternative is no deposit is assumed safe outside a moneycenter bank - disastrous outcome for US economy. If name of bank different not having this conversation

It is a bailout. Not like 2008. But it is a bailout of the venture capital community + their portfolio companies (their investments). That’s the depositor base of SVB. It is the right thing to do in the moment, but there will be ramifications + new regs. VC’s should say thank you
The joint statement is quite something, whoever puts these words together deserves a raise. It covered everything and spoke to everyone, and delivered 15 mins before Asian market started.
Silicon Valley Bank’s shareholders and executives lose it all, as they should. Depositors in good faith, however, should recover and have access to their deposits in order to meet their payrolls, pay their suppliers, and to prevent contagion.

When corporate taxes were cut a few years back, I don't recall accusations of "buying votes."
These companies had expected to pay higher taxes -- had done business with that expectation -- but then got to pay less.
Not a comment on the forgiveness plan, but rather on the reax.
@zlurie@Money23Green@zlurie haters were responding to his condescension about Cs players after they got taken to the woodshed at home. Dubs 1-2 in finals without Durant. Reckoning coming - just may not be the one you think…
When President Clinton banned assault rifles in 1994, mass shootings dropped by 43%. After Republicans let the ban expire in 2004, they increased by 243% — please don’t tell me bans don’t work, because I don’t want to hear it.
Giannis, on his own merit, is likely the best player in the world now…but the notion that he should just be allowed to bowl people over without offensive fouls being called is preposterous!
