@Lewis1876@FalkirkFC@crunchycarrotsm I was actually wondering when the last time Falkirk won at Pittodrie. It couldn't have happened more than once or twice in the past 50 or so years?
@mb1234567832133 @robhawkes That Scotland isn’t embarking on a nationwide heat pump and electrified district heating program right now makes no sense to me. Instead we are spending large sums maintaining our gas infrastructure…
@ForestHills1903@alexmassie The current gov is serious about planning reforms.
Furthermore, my best guess is that they are likely to propose a form of locational elecricity pricing similar to the Texas ERCOT, which is partly responsible for its clean energy boom.
I have much more hope now!
@LewisStanding1@harmsy@g__j It’s not discussed enough how locational pricing could help P2X above the B6 transmission boundary. From a just transition perspective the O&G skillset and supply chains in midstream and downstream processing is probably better suited to that compared to renewables/transmission.
@JeremyNic666@AukeHoekstra Putting parts into hydrodynamically testing and corrosive splash zones is always going to be a losing fight against entropy and mother nature. We’ve known this for decades in offshore O&G.
@ewangibbs Its not all bad. There’s still a chance for the Grangemouth cluster to reinvent itself for CCS, H2 and other P2X.
It should have strong political support as its in labour heartlands. Scottish P2X will benefit from likely electricity market design changes towards LMP.
@ewangibbs 💯
UKCS structural decline is increasing the UK’s position as an energy services exporter and creating a brain drain of talent to regions like USA & ME.
The same is true for renewables due to UK missing opportunities for an industrial strategy that captures manufacturing GVA.
@MerrynSW There’s a legitimate argument around STEM pay but I strongly suspect they are construction tradespeople (fitters) - not engineers.
Journos really need to better understand the difference.
@TomH_Analyst From now on, I'm going to substitute the word "grumpy" with "dunkelflaute" because I personally don't think it is used enough.
As in: "Tom, you are such a dunkelflaute every Monday, why don't you just lighten up and get some wind back in your sails?"
@lindanewbi @JamieMckie92 @FalkirkFC@crunchycarrotsm My annoyance with missing the “best first half display by Falkirk this season” has at least been tempered by it being “best first half display by Falkirk this season” 😂
@EdDavie@crisortunity It’s shocking how poor our active travel infrastructure is compared to Europe.
Obesity and mental health problems, which can be mitigated by active travel are endemic, and yet we still prioritise car travel. Seriously WTF is wrong with politicians?
@tomhfh The older generation had a party because they won the lottery (Oil & Gas boom), and sold the family silver (de-nationalisation) at the same time.
It’s egregious that we now need to fix our crumbling infrastructure after enjoying windfalls and years of low interest rates.
