So sad to hear of @timkellernyc passing away. Along with Eugene Peterson, he’s been the most influential theologian upon my ministry. Though I never had the honor of meeting him, his writings, teachings, and videos have helped me better share Christ with others. RIP-RIG

[The Gospel Coalition @TGC]

With great sadness we mourn the loss of TGC co-founder Timothy Keller, 72, who died today, more than three years after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

This will be my new explanation to anyone who complains that my sermons are too long.

"I started out to be brief, but I made it long because the text is so golden, so that I might encourage you in this time." -Martin Luther on Isaiah 42:1

@dougklembara For sure! And on the flip side, some are as bad as the end result of a paint and wine night piece. I guess bad art must exist if good art does, too.

Sometimes I don't really notice that living in CA is much different than other places...but today I def did. Went to a plant show w/performers that included a guy playing a tiny banjo and kazoo followed up by a band called "Sage Against the Machine"...and we ate tacos.

I'm wrapping up another round of reading through the Bible, and will start over again soon. This time, I'd like to use a new, less familiar to me, translation. Excluding ESV, NIV, NLT, KJV, and The Message, what do you recommend and why?

[Todd Niebling @toddniebling]

@BillWoolsey Our kids fall into this category, and have met others who've made the switch to homeschooling. We're looking to start a homeschool chapel service alongside of various activities that help connect families and possibly fill things like art/music/PE.

On the 1st day of Xmas @SouthwestAir gave to me…our family’s flight bumped the 28th to go see family. Only response we got was “I’m sorry, I guess?” That’s poor practice and customer service SWA. Be better. I’ve got some sad kids and wife. A 3 day “delay” is just poor admin.

@chris_paavola I agree (but I’m no Hebrew scholar). That’d make sense w/his role in the temple. Might show some of the cultural influence of Rome upon the masses.

[Todd Niebling @toddniebling]

@chris_paavola Great thread! I noticed this last point when comparing Hannah and Mary's songs this Advent. Hannah's is very Hebrew and Mary's steps a bit beyond this and is more Greek/Roman by using a meter that's a bit more like what our ears are used to.

@MP_Ministries People say I sound like a robot anyway, so this might save me some prep time!

My kids’ World Cup prediction
USA 51 - England 0
England is so sad that they become America’s 51st state.

Sounds good to me. Go USA!

It’s looking like pretty severe weather out here in Ventura County. Be safe. Use caution. Go buy lots of canned goods. Hold your loved ones extra tight. This is what we’ve been preparing for, everyone. https://t.co/r9qTbwApsi

@the_rev_bob might just lean more heavily into my MySpace page.
