Whatever the sources of the stresses that are assailing us, we desperately need social cohesion if our society is going to weather this storm and grow stronger as a result of this experience.
A @TorontoStar front page of quotes reflecting the devastation, rage and hopelessness many felt during and after Premier @fordnation’s news conference yesterday.
Thinking about all the families with young kids living in small spaces without outdoor space, that will be incentivized to gather indoors to play rather than outside where it’s safer, for fear of police. So much privilege is built into today’s announcement. #onpoli#COVID19ON
Ontario has failed to protect the vulnerable.
Essential workers without #PaidSickDays, who can’t “stay-at-home”, are being ravaged by #COVID19 & infecting their families.
The anger expressed @DrKaliBarrett is felt by all watching this injustice. #onpoli
Please give the keys of this province to our overworked, bone-tired physicians and nurses. They know what is needed. Paid sick days. Targeted vaccinations. Not a police state.
Today I learned:
- @fordnation doesn't care about my patients or that they are primarily poor & racialized Canadians
- essential workers will continue to die
- triage will happen
- Ontarians have not only been abandoned, but also blamed by @ongov for our collective situation
This is horrifying. 300,000 vaccinations a day is a pipe dream, and was included in the Modeling Table's figure as a hypothetical. It's not a solution. The solutions are those that the Science and Modeling Tables have presented to Cabinet again and again.
Red line crossed.
Today's press conference we learned that "Everything is on the table" has become "Everything is on the field"
What happened to the table? Did it collapse?
We also learned that paid sick leave (the most obvious thing) is not on the government's table/field/meadow.
Bizarre.
As the Toronto Star recently reported: According to data from Toronto Public Health, a full 68 per cent of all workplace COVID-19 outbreaks so far have taken place in offices, warehouses, construction sites and food processing plants. (many open still!) #onpoli
Just hours after Dr Brown SPECIFICALLY identified #PaidSickDays as a critical tool to flatten the curve, it is sickening & infuriating that Ford govt continues to refuse to protect workers & their families #PaidSickDaysSaveLives#COVID19ON#onpoli@DecentWorkHlth
If the Ontario government cared about saving lives, they would take the necessary steps to do that.
More policing will not stop essential workers from getting sick at work.
We are being gaslighted.
Paid. Sick. Leave. Now.

MUST WATCH
Dr. Michael Warner walks us through the story of one patient.
A woman in her 40s who got Covid. Earlier today he fought to save her life.
But before the day ended Covid stole her from us.
Please listen to @drmwarner share his anger and heartbreak.
As a parent and a teacher, I strongly support the current #onted Health and Physical Education curriculum. I have read it cover to cover and here are just some of the reasons I believe it should not be repealed.
With the revised HPE curriculum, students are receiving information about their physical, mental & emotional health that is topical, relevant, research-based & age-appropriate. We urge the Minister to keep the curriculum in place. Our letter here: https://t.co/X9g3UvYrLv
