Addison Bertrand raced in the Nike Cross Regionals today in Sioux Falls. She finished 4th in her heat and 24th overall for the Open Division (over 1,000 runners in the Open division). Great job Addison! ๐
If you are now in the offseason as a XC, football, volleyball or tennis athlete ect NOW is the BEST time to dial in your nutrition, learn about how to fuel your body this off-season and repair your body after a grueling fall. Especially if you are playing multiple sports or have club.
We are booking sports nutrition talks through the end of the year! We address how to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat. Often nutrition education is better received from an outside source (something coaches and parents tell me daily).

Realistic example flow on how to nutritionally prepare for a 6:00-7:00 am lift as a student-athlete:
The night before:
โช๏ธ6-7 pm Dinner of grilled chicken rice bowl, sweet potato, green beans, H20, and fruit.
โช๏ธ8-8:30 pm snack containing a little protein and carbs. I.e. (cottage cheese + berries or 1/2 turkey sandwich) -This helps fuel your early morning training!
โช๏ธPack post-lift meal and prep simple breakfast. Bed by 10-10:30 pm
Morning of lift:
โช๏ธ Wake up between 5:15-6:15 am to give yourself 45-min to drink some water, grab some carbs and head to training. I.e. grapes or sports drink
โช๏ธConsume protein + carbs + creatine post-lift (You already packed this the night before. Chocolate milk + banana + creatine mixed in a smoothie or mason jar. You can wait to have your protein recovery after your lift).
โช๏ธSecond breakfast at home (eggs, fruit, and sourdough toast with peanut butter).
This is how a student-athlete directly improves their health, recovery, and performance. This is a sample flow for a football athlete I work with. It has been a game changer for him. You are welcome :)
