They are stubborn and high energy and most people don't want to put in the work to get them to behave so they abuse them.

If it's a complete mutt they put mixed breed but if it has a faint hint of any pitbull type dog they say pitbull.

Pretty much all of the mastiff breeds have been used for bear, Badger and bull baiting.
We humans have a depraved history when it comes to breeding dogs.
