here is my opinion as an Indian and a supporter and admirer of Elon.
1. Yes, there are certain oligarch who is and will lobby to block Starlink in India.
But they have provided cheap and easy access to 100s of millions of poor Indians in last decade. Not out generosity, for profit. And I am totally ok with it. Capitalism 👆
2. India is a country that is very susceptible to foreign influence.
(CJP/NGO/Missionaries/Peacefools, ongoing protests.)
In such situations, Internet and flow of information can illegally and uncontrollably give rise to unrests that are of unnatural origin or outright false.
If Starlink is introduced in India, Government won't have a control on these elements. I trust Elon, but I don't trust US Gov/DS.
3. Tech sovereignty and capability.
India, unlike other countries (except China and Russia, which do not and will not have Starlink "EVER") have technical capability to build, launch and operate its own Starlink analogue.
So, I don't see why India should allow Starlink to be a competitor in Indian market.
4. Access to the Internet in remote areas.
Yes. Starlink can provide Internet access to certain remote areas, but India already has a very dense coverage of 5G all over the country.
Risks Vs. Benefits in this equation does not workout.
5. Indian Telecom Sector.
The Indian telecom sector directly and indirectly employs approximately 4,000,000 people.
And this sector has seen a bloody battle since its origin and many companies have crashed and burned. Out of this competition, 3 survived, and work on a thin* and well balanced margins.
If Starlink enters Indian market, it will disturb this delicate balance.
In conclusion, however good Starlink is, it is not a good fit in Indian context.
But I am open to any logical counter arguments.
Thai actors Fourth Nattawat and Gemini Norawit are facing backlash from Indians after appearing on Thailand’s version of The Late Night Show, hosted by Katanyu Sawangsri.
The duo portrayed a “Bollywood hero” using exaggerated head-bobbing and gestures, referring to it as “Indian dance & Bollywood Dance.”
Indian fans have called out the portrayal as a racist stereotype, with one saying: “Racism gets ignored so easily if it’s directed towards Indians.”
You are being too clever by half, dear @elonmusk, and you know it.
Saying "11,256" villages sounds a lot. But it is a way of lying with numbers.
What if the handle had said, "1.7% of India's villages have no 4G coverage"?
That wouldn't fit the narrative, right?
And it only gets worse.
The post deliberately chooses "4G".
Why?
Do those villages not have access to 2G and 3G internet? Perhaps you know. The world's richest man who wants so desperately to enter the Indian market with satellite internet coverage should know, right?
You, who have talked about the 'Deep State' would know the perils that satellite can pose to national security. The terrorist attacks on Mumbai, better known as the "26/11 attacks", were facilitated, in part, by the use of satellite phones. The terrorists' handlers, sitting in Karachi, communicated with the terrorists using satellite phones and ordered them to kill as many people as they could, including Jews.
As for "oligarchs", well, you mean Mukesh Ambani (his mobile and internet company, Jio), yet hesitate to even taking his name. You, who didn't think twice before posting Trump's alleged links with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein!
I think that will go down well with most Indians, to see the world's richest man in fear of an Indian🙂
Which brings us to the elephant in the room - racism.
It would take a blind man on Pluto to not have seen the explosion of racist screeds and shitposting and ragebait content against Indians over the last year-and-a half on your platform, X.
Perhaps it got your platform more engagement. Perhaps this is what the MAGA gang wanted and you obliged to get back in Trump's good books.
Perhaps you didn't care about racism against Indians.
Perhaps you saw it as a bargaining chip in your negotiations with the Indian govt.
In either case, you don't have a lot of sympathy in India because of racism on your platform, Elon.
Please stop pretending that there isn't racism on X against Indians, or that you don't know about it.
Coming back to broadband coverage.
The areas that do not have adequate 4G and 5G coverage are Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, parts of Rajasthan that border Pakistan and which are sparsely populated, the Kutch region (also sparsely populated, what with the world's largest salt pans), Arunachal Pradesh, tracts that are either heavily forested or till recently had suffered from Naxal terrorism.
So, what exactly is your target market?
Offer satellite coverage in Arunachal Pradesh and China will cut off your businesses at the scrotum before you can say Tesla.
Or did you plan to make a killing selling satellite coverage at $50/month in Bihar and Jharkhand, where 4G and 5G plans cost $3/month?
Get honest. Get real.

“Pakistan was founded as the homeland for Muslims in South Asia. But once Bangladesh split off from it, that rationale disappeared. So what is Pakistan today? Except that it is not India?” questions ex-Singapore Ambassador Bilahari Kausikan
Honest question.
If Khalistan were declared tomorrow, would the Khalistanis in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia actually move there?
The rallies are here. The flags are here. The votes are here. The passports are here.
So which is it? A homeland you intend to live in, or a flag you wave while keeping the Western passport?
Ladies and gentlemen, the religion of “peace”! This is what some people are allowing into the western countries. Stand up, educate yourself, speak out, and vote against Islamization of your communities. There are enough islamic countries for the muslims to go and enjoy Sharia!
