hey tibo, all you've been doing lately is hyping up that dots thing (nobody can even use). so i'll say it like it is: NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THIS STUPID ASS WASTE OF COMPUTE. okay? here's my suggestion: fire the person who thought this was a good idea, then the person who let it burn astra 24/7 (luna could do this shit). then rip it out of every product, launch astra 6.1 at half the price, double the limits, double them again instead of handing out resets, delete your x account and shut the fuck up.
Hey @thsottiaux I just watched the @OpenAI Dev Day stream, but I am still not sure I got the part where cutting the $200/mo max plan in half results in _more_ use for people.
Can you point me to the part I missed?
WAIT WHAT?
You're cutting the $200 Pro plan's effective API usage in HALF and somehow selling this as good news?
Models are getting 50% cheaper, but instead of users benefiting from that, you're cutting their usage too?
So we're paying the SAME $200 for LESS usage, and the selling point is that we should trust we'll get more work done?
Come on. How is this an upgrade?
can someone genuinely explain why you would announce something negative like cutting plan limits before your big highlight event esp when you’ve spent weeks promising a lot & the event itself doesn’t even fully land?
even more confusing when your competitor currently has a better model with much more generous usage & the audience you’re broadcasting to is unusually obsessed with limits.
you’ve also spent months training everyone to care about the reset limits button. then right before the event you make the entire timeline about usage scarcity instead of what you’re about to ship.
why not announce it a day or two later? or at minimum after the event?
instead you create the worst possible framing in which everyone watches the launch asking whether what you shipped justifies what you took away.
maybe i’m missing some sophisticated comms logic here. i’m obviously not a trained comms/pr person (i can’t believe there is training for this either) but i think about this stuff a lot & the sequencing makes zero sense to me. but whatever.
i’m sorry but openai completely fucking fumbled today.
the buildup made it feel like they had been sitting on some ridiculous shit and were finally about to unleash it.
then devday actually happens and… this?
dots was hyped to hell and the live demo fucking failed.
the announcements were mostly underwhelming.
and somehow a $500 subscription is part of the grand finale.
i genuinely thought today was going to be openai reminding everyone why they’re openai. instead i’m leaving more impressed by anthropic than i was before the event
Tibo reacting to a post saying it’ll take a miracle at DevDay to stop people from canceling Pro 20x...
These guys are putting an INSANE amount of hype behind this.
If DevDay flops after all of that, it’s going to be a disaster.
And we’re about to find out very soon.
Whats this guy smoking?
It’s all good news?
“Yeah we just cut your usage by 75% maybe more, but its fine, we will give u a grok bot knockoff”
“Oh and we are releasing a 500$ plan, that was just the 200$ sub, that doesn’t last a day”
Yeah be happy everyone..
