I can’t look past the gendered nature of this post. This is patriarchy evolving with the times: as women begin to surpass men academically, men begin to devalue academic success.
My wife found an 11-year-old girl's diary at the antique store. She read me an entry from 1957 in which the girl writes: “I didn't go to school today because of my feet. I've been soaking them all day.” Now my wife and I are crying.
