Please let our churches work towards trimming the cost of "ministry packaging"
We can't be spending more money on tripod stands and content creation than we do on charity and missions.
We urgently need to get our priorities right.
God is committed to our sanctification because His "reputation" is at stake if we turn out filthy and wretched.
We are His bride, temple and representatives,
If we glow in His virtues and glory, we will become trophies He flaunts and boasts about.
If we remain infants, with many wrinkles and carnality, He will be blasphemed and mocked amongst the heathen.
God will not quit on washing and sanctifying us.
He has a massive stake in our wholeness.
In my society...
Police need to be instructed to go after criminals.
INEC need to be encouraged to make elections free and fair.
Judges need to be begged to reject bribes.
Preachers need to be motivated to preach the true gospel.
Incredible stuff!!!
Spiritual people are often easily noticeable.
It's not in church clothes and spooky vibes,
It's not in the constant "God told me to like this post" comments and remarks.
It's not in the bible quotations at secular meetings and business offices.
It's in willingness to suffer for righteousness sake.
The joy and optimism in the face of hostility.
The meekness and kindness that remain constant despite wicked provocations.
It's in the graciousness towards those who have erred and are in need of restoration.
If you check in the right places, you'll easily spot the spiritual man.
But many people aren't spiritual, so they can't even recognise the spiritual.
Recognise when Satan is lurking around you.
When the whispers of pride become loud in your soul.
When the desire to trample on others becomes an overwhelming appetite.
When you feel you're on top of the world because of a temporal pleasure or possession.
When you lose your sense of dependence on the God who gives you breath.
Resist the devil and give him no place!
If your husband is ruining people's lives with manipulative ministry and using the pulpit to serve his lusts and lead people astray,
But you're enjoying the Mummy G.O spotlight, so you practice "table manners" and smile through the wickedness,
I just want to tell you that Jesus will not spare you in the day of Judgement.
Since you love your husband and your prestige more than your Lord and His mission, you will partake in the judgment of the wicked.
You don't need a church that will affirm you or "love you the way you are".
You need a church that will train you to love Jesus more than you love yourself.
You need a church that will help crucify your flesh and mature you in Godliness
You need a church that will employ God's word and the fellowship of other saints to refine you until Christ glitters brightly through all you do.
You don't need a fun and "loving" place for religious devotions; you need the house of the Living God to learn and worship Jesus in Spirit and in truth.
Please ensure you're really following Jesus and becoming like Him.
Ensure you don't rate yourself too highly on other parameters that don't essentially add to your Christlikeness.
If you think you're a better Christian because you pray in tongues, yet you mock your neighbour who doesn't, then you're sadly in self-deceit.
If you think you're a better Christian because you're versed in patristic literature and Christian scholarship, yet you struggle to defend your faith without vile and rude speech, you're not judging properly.
If you think you're a better Christian because you know that "idols are nothing," so it encourages you to live in debauchery, revelling, and fellowship with demons, you are exactly where Satan wants you to be.
If your prayers, knowledge, and form of godliness add nothing to your Christian virtue and Christlikeness, you are very close to being a well-decorated graveyard.
Please don't be quick to brag about how your faith gets you riches when you're on the receiving end of people's generosity.
It may be more about the sacrifice and love from those around you than your confession of "I can never be poor in my life"
The things modern Christians are often ashamed of affirm our current priorities.
We are ashamed of failing exams, being broke, and generally missing out on societal success.
We hardly get ashamed about misrepresenting Jesus or our inability to be useful to God's kingdom.
Or perhaps we believe that we can't represent Jesus without societal success, and we can't be useful to God's kingdom until the world rates us very highly.
I'm not even sure which one is the greater calamity.
I taught my little son that death only transitions us to the very presence of Jesus.
Now he keeps asking me when I haven't yet died so I can be with the Jesus I love.
I have a confession.
I used to rate how well my day went by how much I kept God's thoughts on my heart.
I still do, but lately, it seems the chief measure is whether I successfully avoid yelling at my kids.
Children will test your spirituality in a very unique way.
In my itineraries, I've observed how difficult it is to sustain moments of sobriety for reflection and repentance.
You can preach the heart of God and get people weeping on their seats, and then as you close your session, a moderator comes up and with a clownish "Plaise tha lord, Now its time to give God a dance offering"....
Every bit of repentance you were trying to build collapses because the showbiz schedule is more important than the burdens of God.
A church that can not be dressed in "sack cloths and ashes" can not seek the Lord.
There is a sobriety that keeps a heart panting after God, but it seems we are too happy, too successful, and too intoxicated with our little achievements to cry out to God for help.
Our current design is not designed for genuine intercession, it's designed for showbiz.
The ungodly used to avoid church and preaching because such atmospheres convicted them of sin and reminded hearts that there was a consequence for rejecting God's loving grace.
But Unbelievers today love the church because it is cool and fashionable.
They love gospel music because it is enjoyable and trendy.
They love preaching because it is humorous and fun.
They love prayer because it serves as a good mask, giving others a favourable impression of them.
They also seem to like Jesus, although they don't believe He must be worshipped or obeyed.
Some consider these changes as progress in terms of reaching the lost.
I respectfully do not think so.
