I built a paywall for MCP servers. Here it is working, end to end.
An agent calls a paid tool. Instead of a result it gets a payment link and a handle. A person pays. The same call, retried, runs the tool.
Everything in the video is real — the payment is on Base, the logs are the server's own, the dashboard figures are captures.
Six packages on npm, MIT. Docs, a hosted dashboard, 500 tests.
What I don't have yet is users. That's the honest gap.

A real payment through Tollbooth. 1 USDC on Base, 5 October.
It went straight to the server author’s own wallet. Tollbooth never holds the money — each author brings their own Moove key and is paid directly.

How a paid MCP tool works.
The agent calls it and gets a payment link plus a handle instead of a result. A person pays. The same call, retried with the handle, runs the tool.
No wallet for the agent. No new protocol.

Tollbooth is a paywall for MCP servers. Your agent hits a paid tool, a person pays, the agent carries on.
