I remember that when I was in minor seminary in the NY Archdiocese that when the VAT II teachings came out, we were told they were merely pastoral and not dogmatic, the Church was still the same. That was palpably erroneous because the Church was turned upside down, protestantized and the faith severely watered down so much as to become unrecognizable.
The fruits of that downfall were a massive loss of faith, departure of millions of laity, tens of thousands of religious and many, many thousands of priests. This was not statistics for me, I knew several priests and sisters who left personally, and almost all my Catholic family, friends and classmates in HS and college abandoned the Holy Church, many going Protestant. The widespread understanding after they removed the traditional ways was that it didn't matter whether you were Catholic or not.
That was the "Spirit of Vatican II" that in effect made a new and inferior religion with a new and heretical theology. It certainly was a rupture from the Church as it existed for centuries.
If Bishop Paprocki was intellectually honest, he would see that the Novus Ordo church became a protestant church in many ways in opposition to the Holy Catholic Church that I, and I presume he, grew up in. And I haven't even touched on the Sodomy problem that is promoted by many of the hierarchy, including the episcopacy, the Vatican and which seemingly is even tolerated by the Pope. Frankly this new church is leading many souls to hell.
I am not an SSPXer and have never been to one of their masses, because I never lived close enough for that. I belong to an FSSP parish and avoid the NO Masses as far as I can because that Mass as practiced in most parishes (with some exceptions) is disgraceful and very irreverent.
It may well be the case that the SSPX is indeed preserving the perennial Magisterium and Sacred Traditions that is the heritage of Catholicism.
@PrezLives2022@TVNewsNow Well if you think that "free" health, "free" college, "free" day care are consistent with a balanced budget you have no understanding of reality or history.
Thank you for that. Now I know. I spend a good portion of my day being aware of God's presence. Sometimes I feel He "talks" to me via inspirations from the Holy Spirit usually in little things including pangs of conscience.
I find my holy images very conducive to awareness of Him and His Mother. I especially meditate every morning on the Coronation of the Virgin by Velasquez and (try to) contemplate the Holy Trinity, Theotokos. and the human and divine natures of the Logos, Son of God. This meditation instills an awareness of the ineffable Godhead that starts the day for me in my attempt at holiness.
Jesus gave the authority to His apostles to forgive sins, or not. That authority was not just for their generation, it was for His church which He promised to be with till the end of time. That authority continues to this day through the sacrament of Holy Orders and is dispensed by His priests who can trace their Orders all the way back to the Apostles and their successors. He established this forgiving sacrament for you, for me and for all who wish, with proper formation, to obtain this grace to restore our spiritual communion with His Mystical Body, His Bride the Holy Church. And the greatest gift of all He gives us His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist by which we eat His Flesh and drink His Blood as He commanded us to do, so He may abide in us and we in Him by His Real Presence under the appearances of bread and wine. There is no closer relationship you can have with Jesus in this worldly life.
Don't squander your inheritance. Come back to the one and only visible Church that Jesus established for us, and for you. He wants you Nicki. Go to Him.
@Nickisbackbaby Very similar to my life story. But I concluded that the Catholic Church, for all the faults of its members on Earth, is the Church Jesus in fact established and has the sacraments He established to impart grace to us.
Respectfully Father you would safeguard your own soul by coming into the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church Jesus founded upon the Rock of Peter and encouraging others to do the same. I will say a prayer for you to St. John Henry Newman with whom I presume you are well acquainted.
@FatherChrisVor1@PatrickBreukers Time for my bp check anyway- 102/67
Since you refuse to admit it in a post, your profile says you are Old Catholic which is a schismatic religion from the Catholic Church.
I wholeheartedly agree with your first point. It undoubtedly would inure to the spiritual benefit and unity of the Faithful just like it used to before the downfall.
I practice your second and third points. I believe they are necessary until the Friday abstinence is again required, as it hopefully will be once the Church leadership regains its clarity.
Thanks for sharing this.
