Our new footbridge is officially open!
Thanks to @CllrDavidRenard and @RobertBuckland for cutting the ribbon. It was great to also be joined by Simon from @waitrose, Karl from @BadgerPubs and Tom from @knightsbrown (as well as Rob from our team) to celebrate the occasion.

The coloured resin has almost all been installed and half the steel panels have been fixed into place on our new footbridge.

It won't be too long until it is ready to open and thanks to yesterday's rain the canal is looking pretty good as well!

Canalside is set to become the focal point of the @Wichelstowenews development with the Wilts & Berks Canal at its heart. Our works came to a head yesterday with the installation of the feature footbridge, to link the @Waitrose store & @Badgerales pub. Filming by @GlobalDroneLtd.

It's lowered into place. The canal is bridged. @Wichelstowenews is joined up as the new bridge is lowered into place. Shopping and a pint anyone?

Once it was all rigged up it didn't take long to lift the new footbridge into position.

An early start this morning as our new footbridge was delivered.

Starting at Membury Services at 7.15 it took just over an hour to reach site.

Excellent driving by Andy navigating the tight roads without incident.

As works pause for Christmas, it's the perfect time to look back at the restoration of the Wilts & Berks canal being delivered by @SwindonCouncil

Work started in March 2018 and the canal has been cleared of silt, relined, and a new edge, towpath and lighting installed.

Fabrication of the canal footbridge is well underway in the @littlehamptonw workshop.

The main steel sections will be put together in the workshop before being brought to site and lifted on to the supports which @knightsbrown have constructed.

We dodged the rain this morning to have a look around the new public square in Canalside. Our contractor @knightsbrown have started surfacing and the raised planters and bridge ramps are in place.

Still lots of paving and finishing to do but the space is taking shape!

It has been the perfect weather this week to take some new drone footage showing the progress in Canalside.

New roads, @deaneryacademy secondary school, @BadgerPubs pub/restaurant, new square/footbridge and restoration of the canal all progressing well!

It was great to catch up with @knightsbrown today to discuss progress with the new footbridge across the canal. Construction of the supporting platforms on either side of the canal is well underway.

Our designers BMD have put together some new images showing what the new footbridge and square will look like outside the @BadgerPubs. Hopefully it will be the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon alongside the canal.
