I turned a €130 Frameo photo frame into a kitchen dashboard for Home Assistant
Meals with step-by-step recipes, shopping list, calendar, weather, kids’ routines.
Open source (MIT), and the demo runs without a smart home. Idea from @wesbos

@wesbos tI all started with @wesbos and his photo-frame-dashboard, thanks Wes.
Under the hood: an Android kiosk app, a Node/Fastify backend in Docker, a no-bundler web page, 727 tests, and every command simulated by default.
Personal project, shared as is, no warranty.
Thanks for the idea @wesbos I bought a 15 inches Frameo built a new launcher to put in it and went a bit far,I built a reward process in it for my adhd son, I can even control things on my EV 😄
@wesbos Some of you asked for the code behind my kitchen frame: it’s out

@TheDeltaDon@wesbos Hardware: an Apveelveer 15.6" Frameo photo frame (oak finish). On the device itself:
Android model name "AVE-V5 Max", Rockchip RK3326 SoC, Android 9, 2 GB RAM, 1920×1080 display.
For the rewards it’s plain JavaScript ES modules, with no framework and no build step.
@mcconnellj@wesbos Yep that’s why I did hooked up my ha server, grocery’s menu receipes ect, iPhones calendar’s, Apple TV and so on, I can also use Claude to order groceries for me using the grocery list on the photo frame, the only thing missing on this device is a microphone.
