One edge case worth flagging: if you exit dictation without pressing CapsLock again, the key stays toggled and you end up TYPING LIKE THIS. Airbounce handles that. Small detail, big annoyance.

The animated waveform while you speak is a nice touch though.

Claude Desktop uses CapsLock as a dictation shortcut on Mac. Same pattern behind Airbounce, a Mac app I made for muting/unmuting Zoom with CapsLock.
Anthropic landed on the same key for the same reason. I smiled when I saw that. Some patterns just rhyme. 🧵

I got there the long way. Prototyped a physical button, hit a patent wall, then realised the answer was on every keyboard. CapsLock is underused, universally available, perfect for toggling a binary state, and even has a built-in light to show you if the mic is on.
