Exploring using AI to peel back layers of reality on anonymized Street View captures revealing the surprising identities of the Argletonians. AI imagined reportage photography.
The idea came as a response to the Google Clips camera in 2018. It was a great idea, a camera that knew when to take a photograph. However it was trained on Google photos that were not very interesting. That is when we set out to change all that, a camera with attitude!
The best of Robot Jacqui’s images became part of the dataset we used to train our various GANS, which became part of the source to our first collection, 'Homes of Argleton Lane'.
I just wanted to introduce you to 'Robot Jacqui', who helped me find some of the Street View images that I used to train the GANs that created my first collection ‘Homes of Argleton Lane’.

With Street View’s ability to “time travel”, I had a real sense of the changing socio-economic landscape of America as I witnessed the slow decline of these small charming towns.
