The Wheaton baseball team traveled to Augustana College this afternoon for a doubleheader, and the Thunder defeated the Vikings in today's first game to secure their tenth victory of the season and earn a 2-1 weekend split.
Wheaton logged five extra-base hits in the win, including two home runs, and drew eight walks in a strong offensive showing.
Chris Lynam (pictured) led the team with two hits, two scores, and two RBI and blasted his first career home run in the seventh inning. He was joined on two hits by Jack Gill and James Scott and matched on two RBI by Charlie Scofield and Braden Engel, the latter of whom stole the only base of the game.
Mason Diel also tallied a home run, while Tyler Burr and Ryan Cartwright each contributed two runs and one hit in the victory.
Alex Bagley improved to 3-0 on the mound, surrendering just three hits and two runs through five innings. Jack Mazurowski tallied four strikeouts and allowed zero hits or runs in two innings of relief work.
Next up for the Thunder is a visit to North Park University for a single game on Wednesday afternoon.

Had a solid line drive up the middle in tough loss yesterday. Lots to learn from for myself and the team. Will be ready for our DH on Tues. Always an honor to take the American flag down after the game.🇺🇸
