🚨Job Alert🚨
I'm hiring a contract role for a 3D artist to work on environments, props, and characters for Big Hops. Can you match our style?

Would super appreciate if you could RT and pass this along to your artist friends!
@Gweivyth@eric_lang There’s a ton you can learn from physical game design that’s applicable to digital games too - it’s one of the key ways we introduce students to design principles!
So I absolutely would not worry if you’ve been working on physical games and want to develop digital ones.
@Gweivyth@eric_lang Oh boy, that’s some truly awful advice.
Working on other people’s games can be one of the best ways to learn and practice design.
It also pushes collaboration and compromise, two super important design skills.
‘Having a sick idea’ is maybe ~5% of a designer’s role. Or less.
@Goldblaze_SK Yeah I think I can comfortably never play Ubisoft games now. Same with EA, same with Activison…I’m honestly not playing much from any big western publishers any more because none of it really appeals to me.
Which is fine because there a 5 billion other games I can play instead!
So we’re at the point where a remake of a PS2 game now apparently requires a 6 year development cycle (Prince of Persia for context).
The AAA games industry is probably done, right? Is it time to try something else yet?
@LazyTeaStudios Also the people making games for passion also deserve to make a profit, and the market is making that a pretty bleak prospect for lots and lots of people.
@LazyTeaStudios This is true, the quality of basically all indie games now is nuts - the problem is there are simply so many of them, and not enough time.
I think people could stop making games forever right now, and I would still have enough great indie games to last me until I die.
